TIGERS 69 RYE HOUSE 21

Thursday September 08, 2011
SHEFFIELD had three maximum men as they swept to their biggest win of the season by well and truly grounding the Rye House Rockets at Owlerton.

Josh Auty launched his 21st birthday celebrations with five straight wins for 15-point full house, and Shane Parker and Simon Lambert both blasted to paid maximums as Tigers’ points total went into orbit.

They started with two 5-1s, Parker clocking the fastest time of the season in the opening race, and in fact the first eight races were all Sheffield advantages as they went into an imposing 37-11 lead.

Rye reserve Nelson had been unlucky to retire from Heat 8 when his front forks snapped, and the visitors did gain some respite with a Jordan Frampton win in the next race – their only victory of the night.

Tigers were straight back into their stride with a 4-2 in Heat 10 followed by five consecutive 5-1s to finish the meeting off.

Lambert and Emiliano Sanchez provided the racing highlight of the meeting with their successful battle to get to the front of Heat 14, which they achieved against Nelson on the very last bend.

It was left to Auty and Ricky Ashworth to complete the rout with yet another 5-1 in Heat 15 to complete an all-round performance which had seen Tigers drop just six of the 75 points available to them.

SHEFFIELD 69: Josh Auty 15, Ricky Ashworth 13+1, Shane Parker 10+2, Simon Lambert 9+3, Hugh Skidmore 9+1, Ashley Birks 8+2, Emiliano Sanchez 5+2.

RYE HOUSE 21: Jordan Frampton 8, Steve Boxall 4, Ritchie Hawkins 3, Chris Neath 2, James Brundle 2, Luke Bowen 1, Nelson 1.
