SHEFFIELD went down 51-39 at Newcastle in a hard fought Premier League clash on Sunday night.
Shane Parker, who jetted back into the UK early after acting as mentor to fellow Aussie Chris Holder in the Polish GP, was in stunning form with 14-points from his five outings.
But he lacked the necessary support from colleagues although Josh Auty suffered a rough night which affected his score and restricted him to 6+1.
The Sheffield Window Centre-backed side were again without Ashley Birks who is hoping to be fit for Thursday’s home meeting with Ipswich.
Boss Eric Boocock said: “We cannot ask for any more effort from the lads. Ashley needs rest and hopefully we will see him back on Thursday. Shane has been brilliant for us, it’s just a shame he’s retiring!”
