TIGERS 57 KING'S LYNN 33

SHEFFIELD romped to a second successive comprehensive home win as they swept King’s Lynn aside 57-33.

The Tru7 Group Tigers backed up their big win over Birmingham last week with another dominant performance against the Stars.

They opened with five advantages in the opening six races to establish an early 14 point lead with a series of quick starts and smart opening laps aiding their cause.

The highlight of that came in Heat Six when Anders Rowe was shepherded home superbly by Jack Holder for a third Tigers’ 5-1 of the night as they kept Chris Harris behind them.

Heat Seven saw the first shared race of the night with Chris Holder taking the chequered flag before the hosts were denied another maximum in Heat Eight.

Rowe comfortably wrapped up a second straight win whilst despite the best efforts of Leon Flint, the Sheffield Rising Star was pipped on the line to second by Lynn’s Richard Lawson.

Heat Nine got off to an explosive start with one of the tightest opening laps of speedway between the front three. Josh Pickering eventually cleared off out front to make it three from three whilst Chris Holder had to settle for third after a thrilling re-passing battle with Harris.

Jack Holder kept his own unbeaten night going when he found a way past Nicolai Klindt on the last lap to lead a 4-2 before a rare moment of joy for the visitors came in Heat 11 as they got their first and only 5-1 of the night.

But when Captain Pickering eased to victory again in the twelfth, the points were mathematically in the bag with three races to spare.

You wouldn’t have known that from the action though and whilst the Holder brothers bagged a relatively simple 5-1 in Heat 13, things heated up in the final exchanges.

Firstly, Pickering blasted his way around the boards on the opening bends to win Heat 14 and seal a full 15 point maximum before more thrilling action in the finale.

Chris Holder was comfortable out front, whilst brother Jack switched lines constantly throughout before cutting back off the final bend to snatch second from Richard Lawson on the line to seal his own paid maximum - ten years to the day since he first raced at Owlerton as a Plymouth rider.

The Tigers now have a two week break in their schedule before Oxford visit the Steel City on Thursday, April 24 (7.30pm).
