PREVIEW: TIGERS v KING’S LYNN

Wednesday April 09, 2025
SHEFFIELD will aim to maintain their winning start to the season when they host King’s Lynn on Thursday (April 10, 7.30pm).

The Tru7 Group Tigers stormed to an emphatic 61-29 opening night victory against Birmingham at Owlerton last week and they are now looking to build on that dominant performance against a Stars side who have lost both of their first two ROWE Motor Oil Premiership contests.

But Tigers’ team boss Simon Stead is refusing to take anything for granted, particularly at such an early stage of the season.

“King’s Lynn have gone down a different route team building wise this year and it’s one that could well work out for them,” he said.

“They may not have an out-and-out No.1 or a standout set of heat-leaders like we do, but they have strength in depth, that ability to chip away at points and in ‘Bomber’ (Chris Harris) they’ve got the most experienced starting reserve in the league, a rider who’s just won the Championship League Riders’ Championship and he could take up to seven rides!

“So we know we’ve got a different type of challenge on our hands but the lads will have taken a lot from last week against Birmingham and will be looking for another really positive result.”

Sheffield will again operate Rider Replacement for Tai Woffinden who remains in hospital following his crash in Poland.

Turnstiles open at 6pm with admission on the night £25 adults, £23 concessions (over 65s and students - both with evidence), £5 juniors (aged 12-17), whilst it’s just £1 for all kids aged 11 and under.

Supporters are also reminded that the Carvery Restaurant, Panorama Room and Snack Bar will all be open as usual and the new-look ‘Tiger Talk’ racenight programme, with extra pages, will again be available for £4.
